Mama Fairtrade's blog
Patricia Mutangili, known as Mama Fairtrade, is in the UK for a fortnight to tell us how sales of fair trade tea help her and her community in Kenya. Here she blogs about her experiences so far.
It was my first time to be on a plane, first time to be overseas and the flight was smooth. I thought I would be scared but I wasn't! My first impression of UK was of a people who have a lot of courtesy. Drivers are careful and I don't think anybody jumps the red lights! The people are friendly.
My most impressive visit was of Bishopthorpe Palace - home of the Archbishop of York John Sentamu.
I was privileged and humbled by his inviting me to a Eucharistic celebration in his chapel and, later on, lunch with him and his wife Margaret and his staff.

After lunch we went for a presentation to local Fairtrade group at St Michael the Belfry Church in York. I talked about everyday life for tea producers and answered questions.

We also went to a shop that stocks fair trade products. It was nicely arranged and it has all these nice gifts and sells tea and coffee.
All in all the day was awesome.
