The environment, organic and local products, and GMOs
For more information about the Traidcraft's work to reduce our environmental impact, read about our work on environmental responsibility.

What is Traidcraft's policy on the environment?
The environment has always played a central role in fair trade, and one of Traidcraft’s foundation principles is to "respect all people and the environment". We therefore pay great attention to the environmental impact of our activities.
More »I am concerned about food miles and carbon emissions. What about the impact of international transportation on the environment?
Traidcraft's aim is to fight poverty through trade. Transporting products from developing countries is therefore unavoidable but we transport goods by sea rather than air wherever possible and we offset our carbon emissions through payments to Climate Care. 98% of our imports came by sea in 2006-2007.
More »Shouldn’t we be supporting local production and buying goods made in the UK?
Our producers are rarely in competition with British producers. We believe the scale and implications of trade injustice in the developing world is far greater than the issues in the UK.
More »Are there organic products with the Fairtrade Mark?
There is a wide choice of organic coffee, tea, honey, cocoa and chocolate products carrying the Fairtrade Mark and the range is increasing steadily. Traidcraft organic products include: pasta, cocoa, jams, some of our chocolate, sugar, coffee and other snacks.
More »What about Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)?
All Traidcraft and Fairtrade-marked products are currently GMO-free, recognising widespread consumer concern about the use of GMOs.
