Shouldn’t we be supporting local production and buying goods made in the UK?
Our producers are rarely in competition with British producers. We believe the scale and implications of trade injustice in the developing world is far greater than the issues in the UK.
Traidcraft and the fair trade movement recognises the need for the principles of justice in trade to be applied in this country as well as overseas, but we cannot address every issue within our operations.
While we will support small farmers in the UK when we can, our clear priority is on helping producers in the developing world.
