The Fairtrade Mark appears on over 2500 different products, including coffee, tea, bananas and other fresh fruit, cocoa and chocolate, juices, snacks, biscuits, nuts and nut oil, wine, roses, footballs, honey, sugar and cotton.
We do have many organic fair trade products in our range and this is what many of our customers want. However, sometimes organic approaches make something unacceptably expensive. Many small producers find it hard to afford certification even when their produce is organic, so it cannot then be labelled as such.
Geobars were established as a branded food product by Traidcraft to purchase larger volumes of dried fruit, honey and sugar from producers. By mixing these sweet ingredients with European-sourced less sweet ingredients, we have managed to derive recipes which large numbers of people are happy to buy.
