Stakeholder accountability is at the heart of Traidcraft’s approach.

See the detailed views of our different stakeholders and also from the report of our consultation with stakeholders in 2005, ahead of setting our 2006-2011 strategy.
Meeting fair trade criteria
Every two years Traidcraft completes a self-assessment report for IFAT (the International Fair Trade Association, which has some 300 members, many being Southern producer groups).
This assessment considers a range of fair trade criteria and is open to scrutiny by other members. A self-assessment was completed in early 2007, and led to our being re-confirmed as an IFAT accredited Fair Trade Organisation.
Customer complaints
We measure and report customer complaints as part of our everyday operations in Traidcraft plc. Levels have increased over the year, largely owing to more complaints about breakages resulting from problems with our parcel carriers, ANC and Parcelforce.
See more information about our customer complaints.
Actions and activities 2006-2007
- During the year a whistle-blowing policy has been introduced to encourage Traidcraft staff, consultants, contractors providing services, agency workers, and placements on vocational and work experience schemes to be vigilant for signs of malpractice by staff at any level within Traidcraft and encourage them to raise any serious concerns that they have.
- A Child Protection policy has been introduced , with Anglican Diocese of Durham acting as an umbrella organisation for obtaining Criminal Records Bureau Disclosures.
- The Board also approved a complaints policy which details the mechanism for the fair and prompt handling of any complaints from external stakeholders.
