Queen's Award for Enterprise for Sustainable Development 2006

Traidcraft won for our pioneering work on using social accounting and a partner review process to promote dialogue with all its stakeholders.

Social accounts awards

Our social accounts have won a number of Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants (ACCA) awards over the years:

• 2007: Joint Commendation for SME reporting in the ACCA UK Awards for Sustainability Reporting
  The judges said the report "gives the reader a very good overview of the organisation, the challenges it faces and its performance against objectives, which are all brought together by the clear mission statement."

• 2006: Commendation for reporting on stakeholder engagement in the ACCA UK Awards
  The judges commended our social accounts for "recording Traidcraft's performance and achievements in two ways: by its own assessment against the company's five key foundation principles, and a second assessment carried out by Traidcraft's stakeholders".

• 2005: Winner of the Best Social Accounts in the UK
  The judges stated that the accounts "have a strong focus on stakeholder views and explain how the organisation is having a direct impact on poverty as well as having a greater influence on others. The report is very comprehensive in its methodology and its set of indicators used."

  Other entrants included Barclays plc, BBC, Camelot, Guardian Newspapers Ltd, Royal Mail and Vodafone.

Equality Awards

We have won the North East Equality Awards twice, in 2008 and in 2005. The awards recognise employers who strive to ensure that good equality and diversity practices are implemented in the workplace.

Commendation in Third Sector Charity Innovation Award 2004

Traidcraft Exchange was voted one of the most innovative charities in the UK.

Other awards

Traidcraft works with Saddle Skedaddle to run Meet the People Tours. We received a Commendation in the Responsible Tourism Awards 2005: Best Tour Operator.

The awards recognise tourism that makes a positive contribution to conservation and the economies of local communities while minimising any negative impacts of tourism.
