Fruit and nut biscuits

These crunchy biscuits are ideal with a cup of Fairtrade tea.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp of black treacle or molasses
  • 5oz margarine
  • 4oz Traidcraft muscovado sugar
  • 5oz Traidcraft Fruit & Nut muesli
  • 4oz plain flour
  • 2 tsp bicarbonate of soda

Method

  1. Heat oven to 150C/300F/Gas Mark 2. Grease 2 baking trays.
  2. Melt together over a low heat the treacle, margarine and sugar.
  3. Add the muesli and flour and mix well.
  4. Dissolve the bicarbonate of soda in one tbsp of hot water. Add to the mixture, then leave to cool slightly.
  5. Form into 25-30 small biscuits. Bake for approximately 20 minutes.
  6. Leave to cool on the baking tray before removing.
