Chilean wine
Lautaro Merlot Reserve
This is a top quality wine from our newest producer in Chile which is deep red in colour with violet tints. It has a heady aroma and is full of red and black fruit flavours, well balanced with woodiness. Goes well with roast meats and cheese.
Lautaro Sauvignon Blanc
This is a beautiful pale yellow wine with delicate shades of colour and an intense floral and herbaceous aroma. On the palate it displays all the classic flavours of gooseberries, grapefruit and apple and it is particularly brilliant with seafood.
Los Robles Chardonnay
This is a classic oaked Chardonnay, packed full of peach and melon. The zesty citrus fruits are best tasted cold for that long, crisp finish, and the wine should be drunk young. Fish, salads, pasta and white meats all match the fresh flavours.
Las Lomas “Equality” Cabernet Sauvignon
A Gold Medal winner in the 2006 International Wine Challenge, this is a full-flavoured wine from one of our newest producer groups. Filled with ripe plum and blackcurrant fruits it’s the perfect partner for roasted red meats and cheeses.
Las Lomas “Equality” Cabernet Sauvignon Carignan
A delightful combination of grapes results in this rich wine, full of plum and spice. The final twist of ripe, sweet cherry makes this ideal for beef, blue cheese and sharing with friends!
Las Lomas Malbec Syrah
Our third red wine from Covica’s Las Lomas winery delicately balances dark red fruit with subtle cedar hints, and is wonderfully warming. Just the thing to complement a good Camembert on a long winter night.
Las Lomas Late Harvest Riesling
Traidcraft’s first dessert wine also comes from Las Lomas and is luscious ending to any meal. A real experience for the nose and palate it is filled with apricot, orange blossom and toasted almond flavours, infused with honey and vanilla and then cleverly tempered with just the right dose of acidity.
Las Lomas “Equality” Cabernet Sauvignon Rose
A delightful strawberry and cream aroma leaps from this wonderful pink wine, complementing the refreshing berry fruit flavours that will be appreciated by all Rose lovers.
Argentinian wine
La Riojana Malbec
Traditionally quite a heavy wine this is warming and spicy with massive fruit intensity and touches of liquorice and fennel. This wine is good drunk young but will age well too and partners particularly well with red meats.
La Riojana Torrontes
This delightful organic wine comes from selected vineyards in La Rioja, and is the uniquely flavoured Torrontes for which Argentina is famed. Best served young and well-chilled, this subtly floral wine is wonderfully aromatic on the nose and packed with juicy fruit flavours. It has a natural crisp acidity, and the long finish is the perfect accompaniment to a fresh salad or creamy pasta dish. It also matches well with mildly spiced ethnic foods and won the People’s Choice Award at the 2007 Fairtrade Wine Tasting.
South African wine
Citrusdal Pinotage
The Pinotage from the same co-operative is a dry, full-bodied wine that will develop with age. The rich, plum bouquet is well-sustained by an abundance of fruitiness on the palate, while subtle hints of woodiness combine with strong tannins to provide a rounded finish. This wine would partner best with game, roast meats, and mature cheese.
Citrusdal “Goue Valley” Sparkling Brut
Fairtrade wine is branching out into new wine categories, resulting in wines like this gently sparkling wine from our long-term partners in South Africa. With crisp citrus fruits on the nose and the sensation of summery freshness this is a lovely wine for any occassion. It’s made purely from Chenin Blanc grapes which give it a dry but fruity touch, whilst retaining the subtle creaminess typical of sparkling wines.
Sonop “Winds of Change” Chardonnay
This is an unoaked organic Chardonnay from South Africa’s Western Cape, packed full with ripe pear, crisp apple, and a refreshing melon undertone, making it a lively companion to summer picnics, salmon, and salads. It also partners well with fresh fruit salad desserts.
Sonop “Winds of Change” Sauvignon Blanc
Our second white from Sonop’s organic winery, this Sauvignon Blanc bears the grape’s signature taste of crisp acidity and lemony fruit. Try it with pasta, fish or salad, or maybe even barbequed chicken!
