Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland sign trade deal with EU
The European Union has signed an interim Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland, with Mozambique due to sign shortly.
8 June 2009
The rest of the Southern African region - South Africa, Namibia and Angola - have no plans to sign the interim deal.
Negotiations for a full EPA between Europe and the whole Southern African Development Community (SADC) continue in a process that has been wracked with controversy.
