The white band

The global symbol of the Make Poverty History campaign, the white band can be a wrist band, a head band or a huge band wrapped around a building.

If you have a white wrist band, you can keep wearing it for as long as you want to continue showing your support for an end to poverty.

In September and October 2006, millions of people around the world took part in a Global Month of Action, when they wore their bands and took part in a symbolic 'Stand Up Against Poverty' event that set a new Guiness World Record.

Although Make Poverty History was only meant to last during 2005, the worldwide campaign (called the Global Call to Action against Poverty) will continue to at least 2015. Every year they will be organising a white band day – your chance to show you continuing support. Visit the GCAP website to find out more.
