Campaign for trade justice
Campaigning is a key way to live out your faith. As 1 John 3:18 says "My children, our love is not just to be words or mere talk, but something real and active".
Churches have always been active campaigners and were intrinsic to promoting Make Poverty History. Traidcraft is still working to bring about trade justice. There are a number of ways you can help us. Change international trade rules Help stop free trade deals which threaten the futures of 750 million people worldwide. Support the Stop EPA campaign. Challenge the power of supermarkets The Competition Commission is looking at the groceries sector in the UK and the way suppliers are treated. Help us to re-shape the way supermarkets operate. Become a Fairtrade church The Fairtrade Foundation runs a certification scheme. There are more than 3,000 churches registered and your church can become a Fairtrade church if you: - use Fairtrade tea and coffee for all meetings for which you have responsibility
- try to use other Fairtrade products (such as sugar, biscuits and fruit)
- promote Fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight - and through other activities whenever possible
Find out more about the initiative on the Fairtrade Foundation website.
