Jewellery Recyling: We all have old, broken and unwanted jewellery cluttering up our drawers but now you can give them a new lease of life whilst making cash for our vital development projects in East Africa and Asia. And it’s so simple! Look out for recycling envelopes in our letters and parcels or request them directly from our partners at www.jewelleryrecycling.org or call 0800 633 5323. Just complete the form, saying that you're supporting Traidcraft Exchange, and request as many envelopes as you'd like - why not hand them round to your neighbours, friends and family!
How does it work? Fill the envelope with old, broken or unwanted gold, silver, costume jewellery and watches and pop in the post to the freepost address provided. Snapped chains and odd earrings are ideal! Our partners at www.jewelleryrecycling.org will reuse and recycle the jewellery and give 75% of the profits back to Traidcraft Exchange, saving precious raw materials and the environment at the same time!
Mobile Phone and Printer Cartridge Recycling:
And don’t forget you can still recycle old mobile phones and ink cartridges and raise funds for Traidcraft Exchange! Go to www.recyclingappeal.com/traidcraft or call 08451 30 20 10 for more information. As well as benefiting our vital work, it means the cartridges aren't harming the environment by sitting in landfill sites. Did you know it takes up to 1000 years for a printer cartridge to decompose?
How does it work?
- If you have small number of cartridges or mobile phones, you can send them freepost to the Recycling Appeal in an envelope.
- Alternatively, you can box them up and Recycling Appeal will collect them free of charge from anywhere in the UK.
- Recycling Appeal then send a cash donation to Traidcraft for the value of your cartridges and mobile phones.
How your support helps
Khadija works at GUP, which stands for Gono Unnayan Prochesta (People’s Development Efforts). GUP trained her in Batik and provides her with accommodation.
"I have no idea how I would have managed without working here. Now I have a deposit plan so I am also saving. For the future, I would like to always have work. Always I need to earn some money. I want to provide the best for my son."
With your help, we can make an even bigger difference.
Thank you so much to everyone who has taken part so far. With you help, we are transforming lives in the developing world.
Please note: unfortunately, Epson inkjet cartridges, toner bottles and printer ribbons are not recyclable.
