Bangladesh has seen good economic growth in recent years, but almost 50% of its 130 million population live in poverty. Traidcraft has been working for more than 25 years to bring opportunity and dignity to the lives of hundreds of thousands of poor producers.
Fighting poverty together
Bangladesh is one of the world’s poorest and least developed countries. Volatile climatic conditions are a huge factor in keeping around 87 million people living in extreme poverty.
Traidcraft is building the capacity of poor producers like duck farmer, Ashraf, to generate income. We are helping Kamal and more than 1800 other small businesses to improve the quantity and quality of their produce. Kamal has also increased the efficiency of his business by working together with other duck farmers to share the costs of feed, medicines and fuel for transporting their goods. They also work together to negotiate with potential buyers.
