Pray

At Traidcraft we value the prayers of our supporters and never under-estimate the important part they play in sustaining us in our work. Our prayer call often focuses on situations in the UK and overseas and is updated regularly.

As our new Spring and Sumer catalogue goes “live” we give thanks for the opportunity it offers to producers across the developing world to showcase their skill, creativity and resourcefulness and to improve their livelihoods.

We give thanks also for the diligence and hard work that made it possible and we pray that through it, the fair trade market will grow ever wider, increasing our capacity to work with more producers and growers in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Please pray that more consumers in the UK will see that supporting fair trade satisfies their needs in ways which promote the flourishing of producers, their families and their communities.

Please pray also for world leaders as they meet for the World Economic Forum that they may be moved to enact policies and practices which address the inequality and unfairness in global trade and finance that add to the burden of the poor.

Prayer:

Almighty God, we pray for the leaders of all nations, all who set policy and all who exercise judgement in the conduct of trade: rule their hearts so they act with justice and fairness.

Loving God pray for nations, communities and individuals whose lives are marred by conflict, shrunken by want, and warped by injustice: we hear their cry: give us the resolve to meet their need.

Creator God, you made all things good and we pray for the life of a fruitful earth, delighting in its beauty, marvelling at its richness: we will cherish all creation and share fairly in its bounty.

Give us wisdom Lord, to know your will, and courage to do it. Strengthen and inspire us as we continue to campaign, and advocate and act in ways which reflect your justice and your heart for the poor. May our words declare your love and our lives give substance to our words. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
