Fairtrade partners and networks

Traidcraft works with a number of different partners and organisations to promote fair trade.

  • The International Federation of Alternative Trade (IFAT)
    IFAT is a global network of over 160 Fair Trade organisations in more than 50 countries, which works to improve the livelihoods and well-being of disadvantaged people in developing countries and to change the unfair structures of international trade.
  • Fairtrade Labelling Organisations International (FLO)
    FLO is an umbrella organisation which aims to standardise the work of Fairtrade organisations from across the world. FLO International works to improve the position of the poor and marginalised producers in the developing world, by setting the Fairtrade standards and by creating a framework that enables trade to take place at conditions respecting their interest.
  • Fairtrade Foundation
    The Fairtrade Foundation was set up by Traidcraft Exchange, Oxfam, CAFOD, The National Federation of Womens' Institutes and the World Development Movement The Fairtrade foundation regulates the and promotes the Fairtrade Mark in the UK.
  • British Association of Fair Trade Shops (BAFTS)
    BAFTS is a network of independent Fair Trade or World Shops across the UK, who work to promote Fair Trade retailing in the UK market. BAFTS is an information, support and campaigning organisation for its members, which seeks to promotes Fair Trade retailing in the UK and raise the profile of Fair Trade on the High Street.
  • Network of European World Shops (NEWS)
    NEWS is a network of world shops throughout Western Europe that seek to initiate, direct and promote joint campaigns and co-ordinate Europe-wide activities initiated by the national World Shop associations with the aim of promoting Fair Trade in general and the World Shops in particular. The activities are aimed at the general public as well as at the media and politicians in Europe.
  • European Fairtrade Association (EFTA)
    EFTA is a network of 12 Fair Trade organisations in 9 European countries which import Fair Trade products from some 575 economically disadvantaged producer groups in Africa, Asia and Latin America. EFTA's members are based in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
  • Fair Trade Advocacy Office (FTAO)
    The Fair Trade Advocacy Office, based in Brussels, coordinates the political activities of the four main Fair Trade Networks: Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International, International Fair Trade Association, Network of European World Shops and European Fair Trade Association. The FTAO monitors European and international trade and development policies, and develops political positions in the area of Fair Trade and trade justice.
