International agencies and consultancies
International agencies and consultancies seeking to develop local business support mechanisms, link marginalised producers to international markets and build the capacity of enterprises to access markets often contact the Market Access Centre.
International development agencies and consultancy clients include: Carl Bros Carl Bros (managers of the SME competitiveness facility in Tanzania) were seeking to enhance the effectiveness of SME participation at trade fairs. We delivered a four day workshop to local BDS providers entitled Effective Trade Fair Participation, and provided each participant with a manual on effective trade fair participation and a toolkit providing a range of templates and checklists to be used with businesses when planning for, and participating in, a trade fair. International Finance Corporation (IFC) IFC wanted to assess organisations participating in its Grassroots Business Initiative against fair trade indicators. We coordinated assessments in South Africa, Indonesia, Bolivia and Brazil using our Traidcraft staff, external consultants and a questionnaire designed by Traidcraft’s Market Access Centre. International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) We collaborated with IFAD to produce detailed manuals which complement our “Into the Market” and “How to make the most of trade fair participation” workshops. These are designed for small producers to provide practical assistance to them in their market access activities.
