Building market access programmes
Many development agencies are involved in Enterprise Development and Market Access activities.
For some this is a major thrust of their work while for others it is a small, and/or relatively new part of their work. Some organisations are able to have dedicated and experienced staff while in other situations non-specialists have to take on work in this area. Traidcraft’s Market Access Centre specialises in trade-related development and has extensive experience of working with other organisations to develop innovative and effective market access programmes. Topics covered in our workshops have included: - Sustainable livelihoods and enterprise development - how markets work and impact on livelihoods of poor people
- Understanding the local context for enterprise development
- Designing and implementing small enterprise development projects
- Frameworks for assessing and developing small enterprise/markets-based programmes
- Monitoring and evaluating enterprise development projects
