South Africa Meet the People Tour

Our journey starts in the Northern Cape on the Orange River and heads south through bleak and beautiful Namaqualand into the Western Cape where we explore the wine region, Cape Town and its surrounding attractions.

Visits to fair trade wine, fruit and seed producers and a variety of other development projects help us better understand life in this complex country.

Meet the producers

One of the groups you will be visiting is Eksteenskuil Farmers Association (EFA). EFA is an association of farmers, many of whom have suffered forced relocation during the years of apartheid.

Vine crops are a solution for the farmers, who often don't own the title deeds to their land. Traidcraft now purchases a significant proportion of EFA's vine fruits for its Geobars and muesli.
