We stay in the tropical highlands, where we can hike into the mountains or relax in the nearby fruit orchards. There is also the option of a sea canoe trip through the lagoons on the coast.

Traidcraft has a long relationship with Thai producers, and regularly sources craft products from ThaiCraft, one of the country’s fair trade producer organisations.

This tour has been designed to include a visit to local communities affected by the tsunami to understand the rehabilitation work and to support the local economies as much as possible.

Tour highlights

Highlights of the tour include:

  • time with Traidcraft producers and other projects
  • tours to sites of historic interest and temples to learn more of the culture
  • the chance to spend time on the beautiful coastline and inland countryside of the peninsula
  • the chance to visit tsunami affected communities and learn about the rehabilitation of the area
  • the chance to stay with people in their homes
  • opportunities to discuss and learn about a wide variety of issues
  • the chance to be part of a small group of like-minded individuals

What our previous participants say

"It was excellent, due in no small measure to the expertise and experience of our tour guides."

Meet the producers

One of the groups you will be visiting is ThaiCraft, a fair trade marketing organisation which was established in 1992 to work with artisan groups to help them gain self-reliance and to preserve Thailand's indigenous crafts.

Traidcraft has been an important trading partner providing them with their first export orders and helping them in design development.
