With a stunning and fascinating setting, we visit some of the groups who produce embroidery, ceramics, crochet and weaving groups to understand how fair trade helps.

Highlights of the tour include:

• have a boat trip on Perfume River to Thien Mu Pagoda and Minh Mang King's tomb
• walk over the Japanese Bridge to see the Chinese Assembly Halls and Trading Houses and pagodas

Meet the producers

One of the groups you will be visiting is Craft Link, which works with 47 groups. It helps 5,000 artisans in northern Vietnam to sell textiles, stone and bamboo handicrafts locally at a shop in Hanoi and internationally through fair trade organisations.

Goals include cultural preservation, income generation for small Vietnamese craftspeople and acquiring new markets in a changing economy. Artisans working with Craft Link receive tools, interest-free loans, education, training and literacy classes.
