Chairman challenges Great North Run runners

Traidcraft’s acting chairman, Geoff Moore, has thrown down a challenge to supporters – to better his time in this year’s Great North Run.

17 June 2011

Chairman Geoff MooreThe run – the world’s most iconic half-marathon – takes place on 18 September with an expected 54,000 runners taking part.

Geoff, who last did the run two years ago, said: “I’ve been on the Board for seven years now and, as interim Chair, I particularly wanted to run it again – and to lay down a challenge!

“In 2009 I did it in 1 hour 36 mins 34 seconds (I’ve once broken an hour and a half, but I was a lot younger then!). So the challenge for me is to beat that time.

“The challenge for everyone else is also to beat that time and I pledge £10 for anyone running for Traidcraft who does so, and £20 for anyone running for Traidcraft who is older than me (55) and beats it!

“My recollection of last time is of seeing just a few Traidcraft shirts at the start and on the course, so this time I’d like to see many more! But I particularly remember the Traidcraft tent at the end and the delicious fruit that was on offer. Just what was needed to quench the thirst!”

Are you up for Geoff’s challenge? If you or anyone you know would be interested in joining us at this fantastic event please get in touch by calling 0191 497 6445 or visit www.traidcraft.co.uk/greatnorthrun to register. We need you!
