Traidcraft launches Spring 2007 range

Change to fair trade today – and you could change someone’s tomorrow.

5 February 2007

The benefits fair trade brings to disadvantaged communities across Africa, Asia and Latin America are well documented.

A clean water supply, a roof on a home, a village school or clinic, a child’s education paid for, are just some of the life-enhancing examples collected by Traidcraft, the Christian-based fair trade organisation over its 30-year ministry of fighting poverty through trade.

And it’s stories like these that give the added value to its Spring 2007 range. With over 400 products to choose from, Traidcraft’s newest range has something for every ethically conscious consumer.

Highlights include:

  • An exclusive selection of Fairtrade, organic T-shirts
  • Wild flower seeds from South Africa cultivated by disadvantaged young people in remote townships
  • Our widest ever range of jewellery, handmade by skilled craftspeople from across the developing world including India, Indonesia and Kenya
  • The introduction of beautiful bags and other products from our newest producer partner in South Vietnam, the Mai Group

The 75-page Spring 2007 catalogue features a broad variety of products including stationery, homeware, clothing, jewellery, children’s gifts, food products, coffee, teas and wine.

As well as providing quality goods from around the world, the Traidcraft catalogue enables you to make a positive contribution to the lives of producers like Sunday School teacher Siji Jose.

Like all mothers, Siji wants to provide a good future for her three children – that’s why she takes great care over the tea she grows on her small farm in Kerala, India.

Selling her tea on Fairtrade terms through the Sahyadri Farmers Consortium – Traidcraft’s newest tea supplier – helps her to get a good price, which means she can send her children to school and put food on the family table.

“I’ve been growing tea for 10 years,” she said. “The main benefit now is that I am getting a good price – before it was very poor.”

Traidcraft works with farmers and craft workers across Africa, Asia and South America. When you buy Traidcraft products you are helping people in some of the poorest parts of the world to build a better future for themselves, their families and their communities. Look in our catalogue for features on a number of our producers, and read about what fair trade has meant for them.
