Great Run for anniversary couple
A North East couple have found an unusual way of celebrating their 10th anniversary together – by taking part in this year’s Bupa Great North Run. Jo Dale and her husband Peter, who live in Bensham, will be taking part in the race together, which takes place on 5th October.

Benfield Motors grant drives African project
Two North East organisations have joined forces to change the lives of small-scale beekeepers in Tanzania. Benfield Motors Charitable Trust has donated £40,000 to Traidcraft Exchange to expand its successful development project.

Recycling by North East residents helps raise £1,000 for Traidcraft Exchange
Thanks to the recycling efforts of North East residents, Durham-based Premier Waste Management has made a donation of £1,000 to local charity Traidcraft Exchange. The money was raised through the Kerb-it recycling scheme, which donates £1 to charity for every tonne of waste recycled.

Traidcraft awarded over £400k to build brighter futures for thousands of tsunami victims
Traidcraft, the UK's leading fair trade organisation, has been awarded £476,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to help rebuild livelihoods of thousands of people devastated by the 2004 tsunami. The project will improve the skills, employment prospects and business opportunities of more than 4,000 women and young people in the Tamil Nadu region of India.
