The 80-strong audience will include many who have first-hand experience of the positive changes fair trade has made, having travelled to the developing world on Traidcraft tours and met producers.
Attendees include long-time Traidcraft supporter, Jenni Young, from the Borders who recently returned from Bangladesh where she shared a copy of Traidcraft's first catalogue with producers of jute products which Traidcraft has sold since its beginning in 1979.
Held in Traidcraft's Team Valley warehouse, surrounded by the many fair trade products featured in the recently-launched Autumn catalogue, the event is also an opportunity to view the 30th anniversary photo exhibition featuring fair trade producers and to browse the full product range.
Traidcraft Chief Executive, Paul Chandler, will share the highlights of the year. Supporters will also be given a presentation on Traidcraft’s pioneering work in Sri Lanka with rubber farmers which resulted in the launch of the UK’s first fair trade rubber gloves and its development work in East Africa with bee keepers.
One of Traidcraft's longest-standing supporters will be invited to cut a specially-made fair trade 30th birthday cake which will be shared with everyone at the event.
