Snack Attack is a competition for groups of pupils aged between 7 and 18, who are asked to come up with a new fair trade snack. They must design the packaging, invent a catchy name and develop a marketing campaign to promote it.
Entries have come in from schools across the UK and Stacie is part of the judging team that will choose the final winners on 9th May. The winner in each of the three categories (based on age) will receive a £250 cash prize for their school, fair trade goody bags, and a presentation at their school by a Traidcraft speaker.
The three other judges on the Snack Attack panel will be Val Bishop, an educational specialist, Liz Williams, new product development manager at snack manufacturer Glisten, and Jenny File, Traidcraft’s product marketing manager.
Jenny File says: “Snack Attack is all about inspiring young people, getting their creative juices flowing, helping them to learn about fair trade and developing their ethical enterprise skills. Stacie is a perfect fit as a judge because not only is she creative and innovative in the kitchen but she is an enterprising individual who has set up her own business.”
Stacie said: “I’m really excited to be getting involved with Traidcraft’s Snack Attack competition that encourages kids to be innovative and creative about food, as well as making them think where their food comes from. The standard looks to be very high this year so the hardest part will be picking just one winner!”
